"The
Valley may be full of aspiring actors, but as any movie star-in-the-making
knows: Making the transition from waiting tables to working in
your chosen profession can be tough. That's where David Kagen's
School of Film Acting in North Hollywood comes into the picture.
Kagen, who has coached such pros as Ted Danson and Alec Baldwin,
has been practicing his craft for 30 years. What sets his school
apart from the others that proliferate the entertainment capital
of the world? "Two things," Kagen says. "The first
is that all my instructors have conservatory training and extensive
experience. And second, we teach real world skills that actors
need to complete effectively to get work." He could also
add another attribute. Kagen keeps his classes small, to a maximum
of 12 students. Each budding thespian performs before video cameras
twice in each session, giving them more bang for their buck. Classes
are for beginners to professional, and those who enroll participate
once or twice per week (or more), depending on their budget. Now
roll tape! "
